Febrero comenzó con muchas buenas noticias! He ganado un sorteos (no, no es el Euromillones) y me han invitado a participar de un grupo de costura!

February has started on the right foot! I´ve won a giveaway and I´ve been asked to join in a Quilting Bee!

Mi sorteo viene desde www.modernbias.com y con las telas que recibí he hecho dos proyectos.

The first giveaway came from www.modernbias.com and with the fabulous fabrcis Carla sent me I made two projects.

1. El Block de mi grupo en Threadbias. Nuestra compañera escribió un tutorial para nosotras y como ejemplo usó una tela que vino incluida en mi paquete. Ya había cortado las telas para mi bloque, pero lo vi como una señal del destino y volví a cortar para poder usar la misma tela pero en un color distinto.

1. My contribution to my Bee Group at Threadbias. Our Queen for this month wrote a tutorial for us and the fabric she used in it was included in the packet I got from Modernbias! I had my fabric cut already but I immediatley changed my mind and decided to make the block using that same fabric but in a different colorway.

2. Una tabla para organizar mis hilos. La hice con los bordes de las telas de Heather Ross, colección Briar Rose. Marc clavó los clavos y yo la colgué. Me quedé corta, así que habrá que ir a comprar otro listón.

2. A thread track for my growin pile of threads. I made it using the selvadges from Heather Ross, Briar Rose collection. Marc helped with the nailing and I did the hanging. Anyway, there isn´t enough space so I will have to go and buy another piece of wood.

Y la segunda buena noticia es que desde ahora formo parte de un Grupo Internacional de Quilters. Do. Good Stitches. Pertenezco al grupo Comfort y puedes ver nuestras fotos aquí. Es una iniciativa muy interesante. Se trata de enviar dos bloques por mes a nuestra Queen y ella se encarga de montar el quilt y donarlo a una caridad.

And the second part of the good news is that starting today I´m a member of the Comfort Circle at Do. Good Stitches. A charity bee. You can see our photos here.

El primer post de Febrero :: My first post in February

Empieza Febrero y con él me siento a pensar en mi objetivo para este mes. 

Realmente es una bendición para mí esta fiesta de enlaces. Si no fuera por ella y por los Intercambios a los que me he apuntado en Flickr, me hundiría en un millar de TEP.

It´s the start of February and I find myself sitting in front of the computer thinking of my objetive for this month. It is really a blessing for me, this Linky Parties. If it wasn´t for Melissa at SewBittersweetDesigns and the Swaps I signed up for at Flickr, I´d be drowning among all my WIPS.

Uno de estos intercambios se llama Sewing Room Swap y me ha tocado una compañera a la que le gustan los lunares. No sé mucho más allá de eso. Así que aproveché unos fussy cuts que tenía de Aneela Hoey e hice unos Log Cabin Blocks siguiendo el tutorial de Caroline en Sew Can She.

One of those Swaps is the Sewing Room Swap and I was assigned a partner who likes dots. I don´t know much beyond that. So I grabbed some Aneela Hoey fussy cuts I had and I made some mini Log Cabin Blocks following the tutorial that Caroline from Sew Can She posted a couple of weeks ago. 

Estos bloques se convertirán en un Mini Quilt que espero le guste a mi compañera. Planeo usar Kona Snow para los bordes y Aneela Hoey para la trasera. Y hacerle el biés con un chevron rojo que me encanta. Como hice más de uno y tenemos que hacer algo grande y algo más pequeño que lo complemente, pensé en hacer un alfiletero y una cesta recoge hilos. Con algo de bordado a mano. Nuevo para mí.

Those blocks will turn into a Mini Quilt that I hope my partner will like. I will be using Kona Snow for the sashing and Aneela Hoey for the backing. And some red chevron for the binding. And since 

I´ve made more than four blocks and we have to make one Big Item and something smaller that matches the style, I´m planning a pincushion and a thread catcher. Embroidered. Something new to me!

Trabajo completo :: It´s a finish!

Enero casi llega a su fin! Ha volado el tiempo, no es cierto? Hace nada estaba mi hermana aquí con nosotros y yo estaba ayudándola a armar sus valijas. Y en nada empieza Febrero y cumpliré 41 años. Cómo? Lo dije? Jajaja.

January is almost over! Time has clown by, hasn´t it? It was just yesterday I had my sister here with me and I was helping her pack the bags. I no time we will be in February and I´ll be 41! What? Did I just say that? Haha

Estoy muy orgullosa de presentar mi objetivo del mes acabado. Las tres fundas de almohadón para mi mami ya están en su casa, adornando su sofá en el departamento de la playa! Espero que los disfrutes mami! El post original está aquí.

I'm so very proud to show you my finish! I have managed to complete the three pillowcases for my mum. They are comfortably sitting on her sofabed in the apartment at the beach. I hope you enjoy them mum! You can find the original post here.

Esta funda de almohadón fue hecha siguiendo el patrón y tutorial de Rachel en Stitched in Color, como parte de una clase que tomé en 2013. 

This pillowcase was made following the pattern and tutorial by Rachel at Stitched in Color, as part of a class I took with her in 2013.

Doll Quilt Swap 2014 :: DQS 2014

Si aun no conocen Flickr, deben! Es una comunidad de inspiración. Fotos, fotos y mas fotos. Y grupos, grupos y más grupos. Hay de todos los gustos. Grupos de fans de diseñadores de telas, de patrones, de diseñadores de patrones y también los hay de Intercambios. DQS es uno de ellos.

If you still havent heard of Flickr, you have to! Its a source of inspiration. Photos, photos and more photos. Groups, groups and more groups. One for each taste. There are Designers Fan Groups, Pattern Fan Groups, Pattern Designers Fan Groups and then there are also Swap Groups. DQS is one of them.

Me asignaron una pareja hace casi dos meses y mi trabajo era seguir sus gustos y hacerle algo que la haga feliz. Después de mucho investigar descubrí que le gusta el color aqua, los botones y los caramelos. No voy a develar su identidad aquí, pero tiene un blog y la sigo.

I was blinded assigned a partner two months ago and I started stalking her so I could make her something nice. After a lot of investigating-stalking I found out she loves aqua color, buttons and sweets. Im not going to tell you her name. She has a blog and Im a follower.

Decidi hacerle un Mini Quilt siguiendo un patrón de Granny Squares que podrás encontrar aquí.

I decided to make a Granny Squares Mini Quilt following this pattern.

Use tela de mi colección, solo compre Kona Snow para los bordes y la trasera. Le hice una etiqueta a mano y lo acolché con mi preciado hilo Aurifil Mako 40 2311.

I used only fabric from my stash and I bought Kona Snow for the sashing and the backing. I quilted it with my beloved Aurifil Mako 40 2311 and I added a handmade label.

Ojalá que a mi compañera le guste. Lo hice con todo mi cariño y fue todo un desafío. Muchas primeras veces en este proyecto.

I really hope my partner likes it. I made it with love and it was a real challenge. A lot of First Times into this one.

New year! New Projects? :: Año nuevo! Proyectos nuevos?

Empiezo el año con un proyecto, nuevo? Es el regalo de Navidad de mi mamá! Le prometí un set de tres almohadones siguiendo el patrón de Rachel de Stitched in Color. El primero que hice fue para Paz, con telas de Heather Ross. A mamá le gustó y me pidió que se los hiciera pero en tonos azules, para su departamento de la playa.

I start the year with a New? project. It is my mum´s Christmas present. I promised her I´d make a set of three pillows following Rachel´s pattern, from Stitched in Color. The first one I made was for Paz, in Heather Ross fabrics. My mom really liked it and asked me to make it for her in blue colors. They are for her home at the beach.

Así que mi primer objetivo del 2014 es terminar estos almohadones. Mi hermana vuelve a Argentina y espero que se los lleve a mamá. Y que le gusten. Y que los use mucho. Y que cuando apoye su cabeza en ellos se acuerde de cuánto la amo.

So my first goal in 2014 is finishing up these three pillows. My sister is going back to Argentina and I would like her to take them to mommy. And that she likes them. And that she rests on them and remembers how much I love her.
